Jannecke Heien er billedkunstner, designer og kunstpedagog, interessert i menneskelig forestillingsevne, endringsprosesser i økonomi og arbeidsliv, og møtepunktene mellom det meningsfulle og det absurde. 

Hun arbeider med deltakerbaserte prosjekter, video, installasjon, grafiske medier, maleri og tegning. Siden 2012 har hun invitert til verksteder med kollektive, fysisk-estetiske arbeidsprosesser der deltakere fra finans, fagbevegelse og politikk er blitt utfordret til å tenke høyt om, og visualisere risiko og muligheter langt frem i tid – sammen med den Andre. 

Heien er utdannet ved Kunsthøyskolen i Bergen, med BA fra Grafisk avdeling, kunstfaglig hovedfag i visuell kommunikasjon, og videreutdanning ved KHiB avd. Kunstakademiet i 1999-2000. I 2006 var hun med på å starte Kunstjournalen B-post, hvor hun gjorde kuratorisk og redaksjonelt arbeid, i tillegg til formgiving og tekstbidrag. Heien er medlem i Bergen Ateliergruppe, som holder til på Dokken.

An interest in people’s working life, different types of structural, economic and cultural processes of change, and the way these display themselves on ground level, have been points of departure in Jannecke Heien’s artistic practice. She works within two- and three-dimensional media, video and social practice projects. In her work she investigates the intersection between the meaningful and the absurd, with special regard to the impact that collective, physical, esthetic work processes may have on our ability to think far ahead with the Other.  Since 2010 Heien have developed projects that look into the elasticity of human ability to imagine and envision future risk and possibilities.  These phenomena are being investigated in participatory, physical, spatial art workshops, where financial economists, politicians and representatives of worker’s unions have been discussing and visualizing. 

Heien is educated at KhiB/Bergen Academy of Art and Design, with a BA from the Dept. of printmaking, Ma in graphic design, and postgraduate contemporary art studies at the Dept. of fine art (1999-2000). She is a member of the studio collective Bergen Ateliergruppe, situated in Dokken.
